 OOC CONDUCT

Experience of running several RPG sims has taught us the value of having simple concise rules and terms of service

.

MATURE CONTENT  WARNING:

  • It goes without saying that this is an adult roleplay sim and scenes of an adult and graphic nature may occur.

  • A community is built on respect. We respect the rights of adults to roleplay scenes of an adult nature. Make sure you do. You are entitled to decline to participate in such scenes, but do not judge or criticize other players who do.

  • Only you can control what you see or read in the sim. This means it is up to you to exercise your own judgement and not wander into places where scenes that make you uncomfortable are occurring.

  • If you are initiating a scene of an adult nature  that overlaps with another scene of a vanilla nature within chat range ,please be respectful and go to private messages. Do note, this only applies if you are -initiating- an adult scene within range of an existing vanilla scene, not if a vanilla scene  starts within chat range of you after you have already started an adult scene, nobody has the right to ask you to stop an adult scene because they wander in chat range of it. The sim is big enough for people to be elsewhere.

  • Personal Sexual Limits must be respected at all times. You cannot force a sexual encounter on someone.

  • NO NUDITY IN PUBLIC AREAS (You have not gained consent of everyone to do this)

LIMITS

  • You have the right to opt out of scenes you find OOCLY distressing, however you must politely disclose your discomfort to the person who is causing the distress and only the person causing the distress.

  • If you are making a person OOCLY uncomfortable you will respect their wishes to discontinue the scene and maintain respectful communication after the discomfort is disclosed.

  • You have no right to enter an existing scene or location where your personal triggers are guaranteed to be encountered and then complain of discomfort. Use common sense.

  • Your right to live is not covered by your personal limits all characters can be killed however there are rules for that.

  • If you have a limit, make sure you do not perform actions that would realistically result in someone breaking that limit in real life. For example if you don't RP violence then don't antagonize or smart off to violent characters.

  • Lastly, respect Sexual Limits.

  • Don't OOC harass other players sexually, this includes making commentary on their avatar appearance or lewd commentary out of character. In character harassment is fine as there are ic consequences for such. It's roleplay.

  • If someone asks you to stop, or tells you they are uncomfortable, don't be a dick, apologize or cease the interaction.

REASONABLE RIGHT TO LIFE

  • Foggy Hills is a dark adult roleplay sim.

  • IC actions have IC consequences. You can not opt out of combat or confrontation if your characters behaviour deserves such a response, yes this includes being IC snarky and disrespectful. People can react violently to characters who belittle or insult them in real life , you should expect the same in roleplay.

  • Murder is the last straw.... and requires ADMIN permission also the police -never- close a murder case.

  • Make no mistake Murder will happen, but it won't be authorized in cases where someone said something that offended you. (Unless they are already your captive and at your mercy)

PERIOD OF GRACE

  • No character can be killed within their first month of roleplay. They can be hospitalized for 3 days and only have 1 health point during that period of time.

TERMINATION

  • Admin are under no obligation to codify what constitutes just and unjust killing. If you wish to kill another character you must notify admin and give your reasons for wanting to kill another character.

  • Admin will listen to your complaint. You can never spur of the moment kill a character, but you can decide to kill them after an encounter if Admin grant permission. Revenge is a dish best served cold after all. Admin will need to review case history and see if a character is truly deserving of death. However you will not have to wait longer than 3 days for a decision.

  • Always endeavour to try for alternatives to death, capture, torture, slavery, sexual servitude while respecting another's sexual limitations.

HOSPITALISATION

  • Make no mistake a person put in the hospital by an attack is going to spend three days minimum there , with only 1 health point.

  • When the person exits hospital they maybe attacked right back into it.

  • No attacks can happen ON hospital premises, but outside is just fine.

JAIL

  • Witnesses to crimes can end up putting your character in Jail. If you just put someone in the hospital and someone other than the victim reports you, you can be arrested and held in jail for up to 3 days.

  • We suggest the use of disguises or careful planning of attacks if you do not wish to end up in police custody.

RULES:

  • All second life terms of service apply. Violations of second life terms of service must be forwarded to Linden Labs directly via the form of an abuse report.

  • The sim does not allow non staff to build. If you wish to decorate a rented home then the prim allowance given by the rental is for the home solely. Objects that are not rented will be auto returned after five hours. This allows unobtrusive rezzes that are for one off scenes only.

  • The lore and timeline of the sim must be observed and respected by all player characters.

  • Griefers will be banned upon sight.

  • Metagaming, I.E using knowledge your character couldn't possibly know maybe freely challenged in private communication. It is imperative that you disclose your source of such knowledge, providing evidence of such if challenged. Evidence alone is enough, make sure you have it to hand. All characters are considered ignorant of lore that does not pertain to humans or their own species.

  • Child avatars are forbidden, children exist in the world of course they do, but they may not be represented on the sim in any shape or form. I.C the children are tucked up snug as bugs in rugs and sleeping soundly.

  • Do not AFK or OOC in PUBLIC areas without appropriate title, which you may active through the HUD.

  • Do not play historical/mythological/pre-existing fictional  characters. Invent new ones. We have a lot of named characters in lore, we do not want to see them characterized in anyway by players. You may of course discuss such entities, but not claim to know them or be them unless such claims are plainly in character lies!

  • Remember that general public does not believe in supernatural. This being 1950s. no one carries cameras with them either, despite that, we do ask you to follow the lore and not break the immersion by blatantly using supernatural forms or powers in what would be considered crowded public areas. This being said, we do have many supernatural ran areas, secluded areas within forest and even within the city, as well as day and night cycle, allowing all preternatural creatures some flexibility.

PLAYER GUIDELINES

  • Respect all players in the game world, regardless of their race, gender, sexuality, or other personal characteristics. This includes avoiding harmful or offensive language or behaviour that may be hurtful or triggering to others.

  • Be considerate to others when in public areas. You shouldn't be forcing other players to view nude avatars as you are violating their consent. Private or secluded areas and businesses for strippers or hookers such things are to be expected, but in the streets , or in non pornographic settings NO.

  •  It's important to communicate clearly and openly with other players about the nature and boundaries of any romantic or sexual interactions, and to respect the wishes of others if they do not wish to participate.

  • Communicate openly and honestly with other players in a respectful and non-hostile manner, especially when it comes to romantic or personal relationships. If there are any concerns or conflicts related to romance, bring them up in a constructive way and work together to find a resolution. It's important to ensure that all players involved in a romantic relationship are on the same page and that there are clear and open lines of communication to avoid misunderstandings or hurt feelings.

  • However, moderators will not mediate personal or emotional conflicts between players arising due to romantic entanglements. It is important to maintain clear communication and to avoid leading others on OOC. One should assume all relationships in sim are IC only unless it is communicated otherwise. Romantic entanglements where both parties are not on the same page is one of the leading causes of drama in Second Life. We encourage players to make sure they maintain clear communication in regards to this, but we can't force people to do the decent thing, only encourage it.

WARNINGS , BANS & TEMPORARY BANS

  • Trolling, griefing, bullying and harassment are immediate grounds for a ban.

  • Each case is reviewed solely on its own merit, there is no procedure or protocol for bans nor for appeal.

  • We need to be flexible and be able to extend, undo, or reverse bans freely with no loophole exploit.

  • There is no parity of offense outcome. One person could be banned permanently for an action another was only banned temporarily for. In the same way someone who killed someone due to diminished responsibility is likely to be imprisoned for a shorter time than a psychopath who killed someone due to lack of regard for human life.

  • We do have to take the offender into account at all times. Thus offenses will not always have parity of outcome.

  • Only Sim Admin may ban or issue warnings.
