IN THE BEGINNING

Long ago, the old gods /angels who were known under many different names  mated with humans and created a demi-god species known as the Nephilim.

These Nephilim had human souls as well as the all important God Spark. They had the power of the gods and the wants of a human, they became greedy and began to build cults in order to carve out empires for themselves. Their reign lasted thousands of years until the Faeryn were released from the Pocket Dimension during the Medieval Period.

The Nephilim were more powerful than the Faeryn but hopelessly outnumbered, a long bloody conflict arose between the Faeryn and the Nephilim. It was in the year 666 than a truce was called and both Armies met at the ruins of the tower of babel. The Faeryn used powerful magics to bring the ruins down upon the Nephilim burying them alive. The Nephilim starved to death as a result of this entombment.

Because the Nephilim possessed the God Spark, their spirits did not die, they lingered on, eventually they learned to occupy human bodies, but only for a short time, those with strong souls were able to resist such possessions, but those with damaged or corrupted souls could offer no resistance at all. The Spirits of the Nephilim made it their goal to only possess those souls that were corrupted or damaged and made it their mission to corrupt souls to ensure they could always have a place in the living world.

When the Nephilim were living demi-gods they didn't have any desire to corrupt the living. It is only when they became Spirits and learned of how corruption could lead to permanent stay in human hosts that they began to fragment into orders specializing in particular type of corruption. It became their goal to guide humans to sin. Guiding Spirits they were and so they became known as Daemons, which is a term that simply means "Guiding Spirit". Eventually Christian texts would change this spelling to Demon, to mean Fallen Angel. Of course the Nephilim were the simply children of Angels or the Old Gods. Though "Fallen" they did indeed become.

Sin is a soul corrupting force, the Nephilim were not immune to the corruptions they promoted, the human part of their soul became twisted and corrupted, though rather than being weakened by it like humans, it became amplified by the god spark that Nephilim possess and became a manifest force of power all of its own.

OMNIS DAEMONIUM AND THE 10 PATRONS

The realm of spirit where Daemons dwell is known as "Omnis Daemonium", it means "Every Daemon" and it is divided into 10 Concentric Circles each dedicated to a particular sin and serving as a sacrificial area to the 10 patrons. It has some similarities to Dante's inferno, and John Milton's Paradise Lost. The landscape is almost impossible to describe in text form, there are lakes of fire and lakes of blood and mountains of flesh or black marble. The landscape changes depending on the viewer thus no two experiences are ever identical, it is in a word pure chaos.

The 10 Patrons of Omnis Daemonium are old gods who were responsible for creating particular sins in the first place. It is hoped that by making sacrifices to these old gods the Daemons may one day become Nephilim once again or even elevated to godhood. For even Demons have hope in hell. The Patrons being old gods have not been heard from in Millenia. So the Daemons have no idea if their venerations and sacrifices have any impact at all. Though they believe the absence is more a test of their faith than anything else.

The 10 patrons are:

  • Lucifer : Patron Of The Sin Of Pride and Order Superbia.

  • Sathanas : Patron Of The Sin Of Wrath and Order Iratis.

  • Abaddon: Patron Of The Sin Of Sloth and Order Piger.

  • Belphegor: Patron Of The Sin Of Gluttony and Order Gula.

  • Mammon: Patron Of The Sin Of Greed and Order Avarita.

  • Asmodeus: Patron Of The Sin Of Lust and Order Cubus

  • Beelzebub: Patron Of The Sin Of Envy and Order Invidus
