Q. Are the patrons Daemons too?

A. No, the patrons are "Old Gods" Children of the Eldritch.

Q. Aren't the patrons all fallen angels and not old gods?

A.  Angels and old god's are one and the same. In our setting. We don't wish to offend those with strict beliefs, and first offer the disclaimer that this is a fictional setting! a "What If"

Angels have contemporaries in other religions, the same characters given different names.

The Abrahamic faiths are  built on the belief in a single god and not a pantheon, therefore all these other pre-existing characters needed to be demoted to Angels rather than be part of a pantheon of gods.

The Roman Jupiter/ Jove, the Greek Zeus, The Egyptian Ra, The Nordic Odin, are all considered father gods.

Christianity and Judaism and Islam simply turned the father god into the ONE TRUE GOD

Jove was the roman god Jupiter, it has also been used to describe Jehovah.

All religious characters are simply reboots of established ones. If one does a deep dive of religions they will soon discover this pattern. Characters may not be identical when explored deeply, and some of their duties may be reassigned between religions, but, essentially, and ultimately, they are all the same characters with many different aliases.

In our setting all religions have only parts of it correct and sometimes mistakes one old god for another, for example Lucifer is also known as  Phosphoros/ Heosphoros /Attar/ Helel/ Phaethon and many other names.

Demi-Gods are simply children of the gods, Hercules, Perseus, Orpheus, Apis, Imhotep, Bragi and Sigi  would have been Demi-Gods / Nephilim. If such characters became Daemons after death is unknown, they may have stuck to their heroic ways and not followed other Nephilim spirits into the way of Daemonhood.  Narcissus almost certainly became a Daemon of Pride and Telegonous A Daemon of Lust.

Q. Can Daemons visit Omnis Daemonium?

A. In lore yes, In foggy hills there is no build to represent this. We long ago decided against -realms- as this tends to build hidden cliques, we want a presence very much on the sim. A daemon would have to leave their mortal shell behind to visit Omnis Daemonim, the journey back would be very hard indeed. Should a daemons shell be destroyed they -theoretically- enter Omnis Daemonium, but Daemons are not too happy there, so generally dislike returning anyway, if they were happy in Omnis Daemonium they wouldn't come to Foggy hills in the first place.

Q. Are there Angels?

A. To be clear, "Angels" would just be uncorrupted Nephilim spirits, who are unable to act outside the spirit realm. Only the corrupted Nephilim spirits ( Daemons)  can enter the world of the living, Nephilim that become corrupt, become Daemons. End of story. Some may call these uncorrupted spirits "Angels", however uncorrupted Nephilim Spirits are impotent, unable to exert significant influence on the world of the living, they maybe the force the "Watches over" the "Watched Over" type of human, but the jury is out on that one.

Q: So Daemons can't be killed permanently?

A. No they can't however one can lock a Daemon out for an extended period of time, if a character can render brain death of the host body, but keep the body alive via life support or magics then the Daemon can't escape to the spirit realm and remain locked out of play until the host body dies. This is long term imprisonment for a Daemon and pure torture as the spirit is robbed of all its powers to sense  anything at all.

Q. Surely not all Nephilim were buried at babel?

A.  The majority of Nephilim were buried at babel, the few that were not were easy pickings for the vast Faeryn armies sent to dispatch them.

Q. When was the last Nephilim created?

A. Since the 3rd century ((300 C.E)) There Old Gods have been absent from creation. There hasn't been a Nephilim created past that point.

Q. What is Daemon Memory like?

A. It depends on the individual. Normally when taking over a human host, the daemon has chosen a soul which is complementary, not only is the soul invested in sin, it is open minded spiritually, ready to accept the Daemon's actual reality and the Daemon achieves perfect recall.

However in the case of hosts with dogmatic upbringing the Daemon can struggle to accurately recall their own existence, and find their memory corrupted and filtered to the particular religion of the host. The phenomenon is known as "Symbiosis Neurosis". It is treated by Daemons in the same way that humans regard neural degenerative diseases such as Dementia and Alzheimer's , a tragedy that affects the Daemons personality and outlook and diminishes the Daemons true origins.  some may believe they are fallen angels and may remember their time on earth differently than to how it actually occurred. However not -all- Daemons are so deluded, those that choose their hosts wisely and make sure they choose those with no strong opinions or religious beliefs as hosts retain a greater deal of clarity. For human souls can corrupt daemons as surely as daemon's can corrupt human souls. Even though the soul is obliterated when a Daemon takes it over, particularly strong opinionated  hosts are a bit like  haunted houses in some regards.

Q. What happens to a Daemons host if the Daemon is killed in true form?

A. If a Daemon dies, it's host always reverts to human form, no matter what form the Daemon was in at the time.

Q. Seems like it might make sense that a demon would be able to tell those whose souls are owned by another?

A. Daemons can see souls they individually own. They can also tell if a soul is available for ownership. Unavailable souls could mean several things

  • The soul could be owned by another daemon.

  • The soul could be owned by the Eldritch. (Most void users who have made IC sacrifices to the entities of the void  fall under this category)

  • The soul might not exist. (Mendax puppets)

  • The soul might not be a soul at all but a Mendax in disguise.

  • The soul might belong to another mortal in the rare case of true love sanctified with an exchange of vows.

  • The soul might be innocent and uncorrupted. Such souls do not possess the necessary degradation to register as "Available"

  • The soul could be lost, forfeited, surrendered or sacrificed in some dubious or heinous act, a lot of war vets describe such feelings of leaving pieces of themselves when made to kill. There are a lot of these souls, while not literally soulless, the owner of the soul believes strongly enough that they have no soul to barter with anyway. Such souls read as unavailable, they are not afflicted by despair, they are simply resolute that they destroyed their own soul already. Their souls might with significant therapy or TLC become available in time, but until then they are unavailable.

  • The options are left like this as to provide a little mystique. Available and Unavailable is all one needs to learn. Ask the player to run the check list and see if they are available or unavailable.
