THE FAERYN F.A.Q

 

• Q. What Do Faeryn Believe?

• A. Faeryn believe they are creatures of magic from a magical land. That is of course providing they have been mentored by other Faeryn. A lot of them don't find out they are Faeryn until they are visited by other Faeryn and told what they are. Until this point they will believe they are human. Their human disguise is activated when they are left with their mortal guardians and remains in place until another Faeryn deactivates it.

• Q. Are Faeryn aware of their bio engineered form?

• A. Faeryn were never designed  by their masters to be historians or scientists. Because of this the Faeryn entered a dark age from which they never recovered.  They believe all the benefits of their engineered form is because of magic. Faeryn are incapable of the mental discipline required to study history or science. Faeryn usually dedicate themselves to the arts or to physical labour or to empathic professions. The Faeryn deem sciences and history as anathemas to imagination, they were designed this way to prevent them outgrowing their creators. However this work out as intended as the Faeryn locked their masters out of the pocket when the Eldritch Harvest of the last universe began.

• Q. Can Faeryn reproduce sexually?

• A. No. While most were designed anatomically correct, and can give and receive  pleasure.  they were also designed infertile, their masters didn't want Faeryn breeding unregulated, thus the life  trees are the only method of producing new Faeryn. Faeryn can't reproduce with any species at all.

• Q. So Faeryn can't be parents?

• A. Faeryn usually leave humans to rear Faeryn, though, those Faeryn who find a Faeryn child hatched from the life tree , will deem themselves parent to that child for its stay in the pocket dimension.

• Q. What is the name of this pocket dimension.

• A. "The Otherworld" is the common moniker for the pocket dimension though it is also known as Annwn or Avalon. It is described as a supernatural realm where there is everlasting youth, beauty, health, abundance and joy, and where time moves differently. Other names for the pocket are listed below.

• Q. Are Faeryn compatible with human physiology?

• A. No. Blood transfusions, organ transplants between human and Faeryn are doomed to failure. They are as different in biology to one another  as cats are from dogs. However -standard- medical practice such as stitching, removing bullets, cauterization, pressure bandages and standard medical aid that does not require blood transfusions, and organ replacement will work. A cat and a dog have different organs , but those organs like heart, brain, liver, stomach and such forth can still be identified even in species as alien as the faeryn.

• Q. Do Faeryn look human?

• A. No. Only by activating their "Glamour" power can they pass as human. In Foggy Hills your character look as your avatar looks 100 percent.  Faeryn must look human in human controlled areas. The glamour power can be turned on or off at will and the transformation is instantaneous.

• Q: What if a faeryn is killed, do their corpses look Faeryn?

• A. It depends what form they are killed in.  If they are killed in human form, the Glamour remains active for approximately 2 weeks....after which it ceases to function, this is coincidentally enough time for funeral arrangements usually involving cremation to occur. If they are killed in Faeryn form however, the Glamour does not reactive, and recovering the body before it can be revealed to the world becomes a matter of upmost importance for the Fae.

• Q. Are Faeryn hard locked into the Court they chose?

• A. No. A Faeryn may change Courts if they wish.

• Q. Are Seelie and Unseelie hostile to one another? 

• A. No. They might have some prejudices about each other but they mostly work together, despite their struggle. 

​

• Q. Can Faeryn return to the pocket dimension?

• A. The Journey takes many months to enter the pocket dimension, when Faeryn awaken in Foggy Hills they will need to be -schooled- on the rules of the Pocket Dimension and the Hierarchy that rules it. This education can take many years. Those Faeryn that travelled to earth directly from the pocket do not do so casually, the journy both ways takes many years. If you return to the pocket then your faeryn character will be absent from sim for a number of months.  It can be a handy device to explain a characters long absence, or freeze your character for a good while.
