BASE POWERS & WEAKNESSES

​

NIGHT VISION

  • Vampires are able to see in 100% Darkness, this does not include magical darkness

​

FEEDING

  • A vampire may feed on a victim in and out of combat by declaring it as their action (Strength vs Dexterity). The vampire gains health that the victim loses from this attack, up to max HP. As a trade off, this feeding attack may only benefit from maximum of 3 successes. Any extra successes above 3 do not count. 

  • This attack also ignores all armor. 

  • Faeryn give no health to the vampires. Their blood is totally alien. The Faeryn will just lose health instead. Jiang Shi and Baobah Sith can however feed normally from Faeryn.

  • While most vampires bite to take blood the Jiang Shi take energy instead. Ghuls must consume flesh so if they combat feed they tear chunks off the victim.

DURABILITY

  • Vampires have + 1 armor

  • Vampires don't need to breathe so they cannot drown or be affected by gasses. 

  • Poisons/ Toxins/ Drugs have zero effect on a vampire unless it is in the blood of a moral. In which case it works as normal.

  • Undead may not catch or develop any human sickness.

IMMORTALITY

  • Unless the vampires body is destroyed by sun, fire, or decapitated the vampire can still be revived with small amount of blood. When revived, the undead will have 3 HP.

  • Vampires heal fast with ingestion of blood, without it however the process is much slower. Undead regain 1 HP per day. 

  • Undead may regenerate lost limb, which takes a full week.

WEAKNESSES

  • Sun and fire is deadly to the undead, ignoring all supernatural armor they posses. Burning vampire to death is a legitimate way to kill it. 

  • Decapitation is another sure way to kill an undead. 

  • Piercing the heart with a stake will paralyze the undead for as long as it remains there but it will not kill the undead.

  • Vampires also may not eat regular food, and if they try, they will throw it up shortly after, losing 2 HP.

  • Vampires may however drink liquids if mixed with blood, otherwise it has same effect as eating food.

DAYTIME

  • With The Sun actually being present during the day hours in Foggy Hills, does this mean vampires may not be outside?

  • While a vampire would start getting burn marks on them from the sunrays, smoldering away slowly, they do not instantly evaporate in flames. This accompanied with near constant Fog of San Francisco, means that vampires may actually travel outside during thick fog hours during the day.

  • However it is suggested to not linger outside of the shade for too long, since you never know when Fog will clear up as well as you are still affected by the sun, just much much slower.

  • Additionally during day time, all undead have penalty of -2 to all rolls. 

​

HUNGER

  • When hungry or missing half or more HP and coming face to face with blood, undead might lose control and try to feed. To resist that urge undead must score 5+ successes on Intelligence roll. 

  • A prick on a finger or a drop of blood not going to warrant the roll, only decent amount of blood will.

COMMON VAMPIRE POWERS 

The following powers are those that shared among multiple vampire types.

​

PRETERNATURAL  VIGOR

Used by : Strigoi/Lilithian/Vrykolaka/Ghul/Jiang Shi/Aswang

+ 1 to Strength per level.

At level 1 of this power 

  • + 1 Constitution per level.

At level 3 of this power 

  • The vampire may leap up to 20 meters horizontally or vertically.

  • They may leap in and out of combat, but may not attack on the same turn as leaping.

At level 5 of this power

  • The vampire can break wood and bricks with their bare hands and ignore 1 point of armor.

PRETERNATURAL SPEED

Used by: Lilithian/Baobah Sith/Lamia

+1 to Dexterity per level.

At level 1 of this power 

  • +1 to Strength per level.

At level 3 of this power 

  • Move up to 20 meters per turn and execute your action. 

  • Convert the Strength bonus that this power gives into Dexterity for a turn. You need to decide if they will do that at the beginning of the turn because once you use the Strength bonus to attack, you may not then convert it to Dexterity on the same turn. 

At level 5 of this power

  • Attack up to 3 targets with your roll (full number of successes applies to each target).

SHAPESHIFT 

Used by : Strigoi/Vrykolaka/Aswang/Lamia

+1 to Perception per level.

At level 1 of this power 

  • Vamp out, show your vampiric face with glowing eyes, sharp row of teeth, and sharp claws. Add + 1 Strength.

  • Each level of shapeshift is a transformation, none of them stack. 

At level 3 of this power 

  • You may turn into a large predatory animal or even a bipedal monster that resonates with you. (Ex: wolf, giant snake, giant bat, etc.) Add +3 to your Strength and Dexterity, and +1 Armor. 

    • Vrykolaka take forms of giant hairy bats, abnormally large wolves, bipedal wolf like monsters.

    • Strigoi take forms of giant hairless bats, a large clawed hulkish version of themselves, and a winged monster form where their wings are separate from their hands. 

    • Aswang takes a winged form, with wings coming from their shoulder blades, separate from their hands. They may chose to separate their lower body and leave it behind, having intestines hanging down as they take flight. 

    • Lamia takes form of giant snakes or that of upper body of a human and lower body of a snake. 

At level 5 of this power

  • Turn into swarm of small animals like rats, bats, snakes, etc. Add +5 to Strength and Constitution. Each attack may hit up to 3 targets (full successes apply to each target).

  • You may chose to turn into single small creature if you like. Add +5 to Dexterity.

IN-BETWEEN 

Used by:  Strigoi/Baobah Sith/ Jiang Shi

+1 to Dexterity per level.

At level 1 of this power 

  • You are able to crawl on walls and ceiling. 

At level 3 of this power 

  • Turn into mist. You may not turn into mist to avoid an incoming attack, you still need to roll dodge as per usual. 

At level 5 of this power

  • Turn invisible by slipping in a thin layer between worlds. Any physical interaction with someone or something (including attacks) will reveal you for a few seconds, long enough for others to attack you normally.

  • Any attacks made out of invisibility come with surprise attack bonus.

  • Any attacks made vs you while you are invisible come at -3 penalty. 

  • You may be seen by those that see incorporeal beings.

  • Also not that this power does not work together with level 5 Shapeshift swarm as it's too big and constantly moving.

LILITHAN POWERS

MESMERIZE

+1 to Charisma per level. 

At level 1 of this power 

  • You may telepathically call attention to yourself, putting someone in light daze. (Charisma vs Perception)

  • Anyone who wishes to attack you shall hesitate for one turn. 

At level 3 of this power 

  • You may issue hypnotic command to a single target that you may see, within 20 meter range. No eye contact is required. (Charisma vs Perception)

  • This can be anything and will last for a number of turns equal to successes scored by you.

  • If ordered to harm themselves then the target will attack themselves until they have taken damage equal to the  number of successes the vampire scored  and then snap out of it.

  • If told to forget something then the person will forget said event. The undead can set trigger conditions to make something occur when the conditions of the command are met. 

At level 5 of this power

  • Increased to include everyone present in a 20 meter range. The command can exclude allies if the undead wishes it to.

ANIMAL CONTROL 

+1 to Charisma per level.

At level 1 of this power 

  • You may speak to animals, earning you a small and medium sized animal companions. 

At level 3 of this power 

  • Summon a swarm or a pack of animals to do your bidding. 

At level 5 of this power

  • Turn your animal companion into a Chupacabra. Add +2 to their Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution.

SIREN

+1 to Charisma per level.

At level 1 of this power 

  • Anyone who has heard your voice is hesitant to hurt you either due to awe or fear. -1 to all rolls vs you. 

  • There no way to resist this effect once you heard the voice. 

At level 3 of this power 

  • Entrance others with your singing or alluring voice, making them travel right to you or smooth the aggression and turn someone more passive. (Charisma vs Perception)

At level 5 of this power

  • Use a powerful scream to create a damaging wave that will break glass, shatter eardrums and even cause damage to flesh. (Charisma vs Dexterity)

GHUL

PRETERNATURAL VIGOR (see common powers above)

BODY LIBERATION:

+1 to Perception per level.

At level 1 of this power 

  • You may reattach limbs (takes 3 turns), or even replace damaged organs by eating them. 

At level 3 of this power 

  • Ghuls are able to detach their limbs and have them act independently. A hand will crawl on the ground or can try and choke someone. A removed eye will transmit the vision to the ghoul, etc.

  • The detached body parts die out within a week if not attached back. 

At level 5 of this power

  • Ghul is now able to attach numerous body parts to themselves at once, creating monstrous visages, limited only by their imagination. Note that this is a grueling process and can't be done or switched off on a fly, as well as ghul must have the access to extra body parts. 

  • +1 to Strength and Constitution for slight modifications like spiked spine, bone talons, etc.

  • +2 to Strength and Constitution for more moderate modifications like extra arms, bone tail, spiked bones, etc. 

  • +3 to Strength and Constitution and +1 Armor for heavy modifications where you fuse several body parts or entire other body attached to yours. 

  • +5 to Strength and Constitution +1 Armor for extreme modifications where you fuse several body masses together.

DECAY

+1 to Intelligence per level.

At level 1 of this power 

  • You now possess a zombie bite. On the next day after the bite the infection spreads, decaying the flesh in the wound.

  • The infection gives a -2 penalty to all actions.

  • This, and the rest of the effects of the decay power tree, needs to be medically treated to start the healing process. After the initial treatment day, the penalty will go down by 1 each subsequent day, till it's fully removed, leaving only a scar behind. 

  • If untreated for a week, your character will die. 

At level 3 of this power 

  • With a touch you may decay anything solid.

  • You may wither someone's limb by grabbing it, this gives a -2 penalty to all physical actions. However this action does no damage. 

At level 5 of this power

  • You now exude a pestilence aura. Metal around you will rust, plants will die and food will rot.

  • Weapons around you will get -1 penalty to the attack rating.

  • Everyone around you will suffer a -1 penalty to physical actions.

  • Additionally, everyone around you will take 1 damage per 2 turns. 

  • You control the range of this aura, anywhere from 5 to 20 meters.

JIANG SHI

ENERGY ABSORPTION

+1 to Intelligence per level.

At level 1 of this power 

  • When hit with any energy or magic attack you only take half the damage dealt to you. 

At level 3 of this power 

  • Any magic or energy attack that you have absorbed, you may store in you and then use it yourself within that scene. 

At level 5 of this power

  • You are now able to absorb energy from someone from a distance (20 meters).(Intelligence vs Perception)

  • You also passively absorb energy from your surroundings, regenerating 1 HP per two turns.

ASWANG

VISCERA EATER

+1 to Perception per level.

At level 1 of this power 

  • Your tongue becomes a 10 meter long stinger that you may extend from your throat. 

  • This may be used for attacks, utility, as well as feeding.

  • Feeding with the tongue is more efficient, capped at 4 successes instead of usual 3. 

At level 3 of this power 

  • Implant a leech like parasite into someone through a successful tongue stinger attack. 

  • You can always sense the location of your parasites, meaning you can track people that way. 

  • This parasite takes 3 hours to fully grow and once it fully grown aswang may make it erupt and flee the person. While erupting from someone it deals 3 damage. 

  • The leech can hold 2 HP worth of blood, which aswang may then consume if they wish. 

At level 5 of this power

  • Your innards turn into swirling mass of carnivorous tentacles that burst through your abdomen or simply hanging down when you shapeshift flying upper body form.

  • This adds +3 Strength but does not work with level 5 Shapeshift.

LAMIA

VENOMOUS

+1 to Constitution per level.

At level 1 of this power 

  • Your bite secretes poison. Anyone affected by it will suffer - 1 penalty to all actions for a day. 

  • This poison affects even undead, since it is made out of your own blood. 

  • This power does not stack with itself.

At level 3 of this power 

  • Your blood itself is now poisonous, so anyone who drinks it takes damage over time equal to points of blood they consumed. 

  • Ex. If someone decided to drain you and scored max 3 successes, they will then take 1 damage for 3 turns. 

At level 5 of this power

  • Spit an acid up to 20 meters away. (Strength vs Dexterity). 

  • Instead of doing damage as per usual this acid attack deals damage over time, 1 damage per turn for equal amount of turns to successes scored.  

  • This attack stacks with itself so it may do more than 1 damage per turn as long as you have landed more than one acid spits on someone. 

  • Lastly this acid ignores all the preternatural armor.
